In the early 1800’s very fine porcelain was produced at Nantgarw Chinaworks in South Wales.
The unique recipe and process needed to produce this thin and translucent porcelain made it difficult to fire and up to 90% of pieces were ruined in the kiln, making it very rare and collectible. Shards of unglazed porcelain litter the site and the Chinaworks send these to Kimmi to turn into jewellery for them.
Some hand painted Nantgarw plates that have been damaged beyond repair and donated to the Chinaworks are also transformed into jewellery.
All the Nantgarw jewellery is set in custom made silver settings and hallmarked in Edinburgh.
Nantgarw shard jewellery is only available to buy from Nantgarw Chinaworks.
